Doesn't Work
Neat idea, but doesn't work. The rod that is supposed to hold up the bag didn't work in my potting soil and just leaned over so the bag wasn't really elevated. Moreover, the water didn't drip out of the bag.

Great gift for that "green" thumb person in your life
My mom tries, but always has issues with plants so this was the perfect gift to brighten her day (and maybe save a plant)

Hilarious and Helpful!
I didn't inherit my grandfather's green thumb. But this waterer is durable, great for indoor plants, and was super easy to set up. There was a little bit of a learning curve for me trying to figure out what drip setting was right, but once that was settled, my plant looked great. If you're an unintentionally absent-minded plant parent like me, this is great. Would make a great gift for a plant person, one who wants to be a plant person, or a doctor or nurse.

Cute and fun gift for your nerdy gardener
Quality was better than expected. The item is a bit larger than expected, so do pay attention to the measurements. I gave one of these to my mom and friend who both geow herbs in their homes and the slow drip is much better for the plant. They love how fun it is and as both have a background in STEM they were very excited about the fact soemthing this nerdy exists. I thought it was so cute and was very happy my giftees loved the item so much and have put it to immediate use. #sweepstakes

What a Great Gift!
This is one of the most unusual and well-received gifts that I have ever given to someone. It's bigger than I thought it would be, and very sturdy. The directions were clear, so it went together easily. It looks best in a flower pot that is at least 8" in diameter, and definitely added interest to a potted plant that I gifted to the local Rescue Squad that helped me last year. They loved it! #sweepstakes

This is Brilliant!
I bought two of these, one for our local EMT squad and one for our Veterinarian's office. I got them each a pet-safe plant to go with it, but I discovered that I needed to buy 8" pots in order for this to work, because they're big. The whole thing was very easy to put together and seems sturdy. Both recipients loved the gift.

Great support
Easy to setup and use! Bought this for my friend who loves plants but they could use a little support. I also purchased it for another friend as well and it has been a hit with both! They had it setup and in a plant in less than 5 minutes. #sweepstakes

Stopped working
I got this and it was amazing (although I agree with ibe review in that there desperately needs to be a taller version). My shamrock got enormous!!! However, after about a year it just stopped working and the water bad stayed full. I figured something was clogged after all that time, so I removed the drip hose and cleaned the part you stick in the dirt. When I tested it, it seemed to work fine; water seeped out of it. But I set it up again and it's still not working—the water bag remains full. I really loved this and it saved my shamrock, but now I'm hesitant to order s replacement.
FAQs
1. What size pot do I need for the Plant Life Support Self-Waterer to work properly?
The Plant Life Support Self-Waterer works best in a flower pot that is at least 8 inches in diameter. The device is larger than many shoppers expect, so using a pot smaller than 8 inches may make it difficult for the metal holder to stay stable in the soil. Pairing it with a full-sized pot ensures a secure fit and optimal slow-drip watering performance.
2. How does the Plant Life Support Self-Waterer actually water plants — and does it work?
The Plant Life Support Self-Waterer functions just like an old-school IV bag, complete with a flow-rate wheel that lets you control how fast water drips into the soil. This slow, consistent drip is gentler and more effective for houseplants than irregular hand-watering. Users have seen wilted, struggling plants bounce back to perky, healthy growth within just a few days of setup — and the whole system takes less than 5 minutes to assemble.
3. Is the Plant Life Support Self-Waterer a good gift for nurses, doctors, or other medical professionals?
The Plant Life Support Self-Waterer is an exceptionally popular gift for nurses, doctors, EMTs, and other medical professionals. Because it's designed to look exactly like a hospital IV bag and stand, it blends humor with real functionality — making it both a conversation starter and a genuinely useful tool for busy healthcare workers who struggle to keep up with plant care during long shifts. It's been a hit at Christmas, white elephant exchanges, and as a thoughtful thank-you gift for medical teams.
4. Can the Plant Life Support Self-Waterer keep plants alive while I'm traveling or away from home?
Yes, the Plant Life Support Self-Waterer is a great solution for keeping houseplants hydrated while you're traveling or away from home. The slow-drip IV-style design delivers a steady supply of water over time, meaning plants get consistent moisture without requiring someone to come in and water them. It's especially popular among frequent travelers who want to protect their plants without relying on a plant-sitter.
5. Is the Plant Life Support Self-Waterer easy to set up, and is it sturdy enough for regular use?
The Plant Life Support Self-Waterer is very easy to set up — most users have it assembled and inserted into a plant in under 5 minutes, and the included instructions are clear and straightforward. The construction is described as sturdy and well-made for the price point, holding up well with regular use. For best stability, place it in a pot with firm, dense soil and a diameter of at least 8 inches.

How does filling the bag work?
Verified reply from Michelle
Hi! You fill the bag from the open tube at the bottom using a faucet, before you attach the tubing that you will insert into the soil.
