They provide thousands of square feet for invertebrates like <a title=\"Blue Mussels | The Living World of Mussels\" href=\"http:\/\/www.molluscs.at\/bivalvia\/index.html?\/bivalvia\/common_mussel.html\" target=\"_blank\">blue mussels<\/a> to live on, along with food and shelter to slower fish that might need to duck into safety from a predator.
