{"id":42528,"date":"2015-12-09T12:16:06","date_gmt":"2015-12-09T17:16:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uncommongoods.pro\/?p=42528"},"modified":"2018-01-03T16:06:23","modified_gmt":"2018-01-03T21:06:23","slug":"its-better-to-give-because","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uncommongoods.pro\/blog\/2015\/its-better-to-give-because\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Better to Give Because&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re proud to support our <a title=\"UncommonGoods has donated over a million dollars through our Better to Give program\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uncommongoods.pro\/blog\/\/2014\/better-to-give-million\/\" target=\"_blank\">Better to Give partners<\/a>\u00a0and the positive impacts they&#8217;re making on the world all year long, but on December 1, 2015, we were able to step-up our giving game and donate more to help them do good.<\/p>\n<p>The first day in December this year was <a title=\"#GIvingTuesday \" href=\"http:\/\/www.givingtuesday.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Giving Tuesday,<\/a>\u00a0a &#8220;global day dedicated to giving back.&#8221; To celebrate, we asked our community to tell us why it&#8217;s better to give than to receive, and we received some pretty on-point answers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncommongoods.pro\/static\/better.jsp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42663\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uncommongoods.pro\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/givingtuesday-facebook4.jpg\" alt=\"Better to Give | UncommonGoods\" width=\"472\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a>For every answer we received on \u00a0<a title=\"UncommonGoods on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/uncommongoods\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a>, <a title=\"UncommonGoods on Instagram\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/uncommongoods\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram,<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"UncommonGoods on Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/uncommongoods\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook<\/a>, we donated $1 to our Better to Give partners. We also chose one answer from each platform and donated $500 to a non-profit organization of the person who shared that answer&#8217;s choice.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Twitter winner\u00a0<a title=\"EtheRealGrrl Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EtheRealGrrl\" target=\"_blank\">@EtheRealGrrl<\/a>\u00a0said &#8220;It&#8217;s #BettertoGive than receive because nothing is more fulfilling than contributing to another person&#8217;s happiness.&#8221; She chose our Better to Give partner <a title=\"RAINN\" href=\"https:\/\/rainn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">RAINN<\/a> to receive our donation in her name.<\/li>\n<li>Our Instagram winner\u00a0<a title=\"Zlauzia on Instagram\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/zlauzia\/\" target=\"_blank\">@zlauzia<\/a>\u00a0picked \u00a0<a title=\"The Next Door\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nextdoorinc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Next Door<\/a>&#8211;an organization that isn&#8217;t currently one of our partners, but is definitely a worthy cause. She said, \u201cIt is always #bettertogive. There is no better joy than that of giving &#8211; regardless of what it is &#8211; a smile, your time, a shoulder, your love, a hug, money; let&#8217;s make every day #givingtuesday.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>On Facebook, Clara Waldhari told us, \u201cGiving &#8212; of yourself and\/or through a material item &#8212; is the best way to know you are alive and in tune with this wondrous universe. Giving from the heart is healing for the giver and the receiver. #BettertoGive and #GivingTuesday&#8221; She selected the international children&#8217;s rights organization <a title=\"Save the Children\" href=\"http:\/\/www.savethechildren.org\/site\/c.8rKLIXMGIpI4E\/b.6115947\/k.B143\/Official_USA_Site.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Save the Children<\/a> to receive $500.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the extra donations made through our social media campaign, we also doubled the donation for every shopper who selected a Better to Give Partner at checkout when purchasing on our website.
