What gets an artist going and keeps them creating is certainly worth sharing, and every great connection starts with a simple introduction.\u00a0Meet Teri Stratford<\/a>, the artist behind our vibrant\u00a0new botanical prints, A Visual Poem<\/a>, Twilight<\/a>, and Firefly Festival Fireworks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When did you know you wanted to be an artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I always knew I was an artist so there never was a \u201cwhen.\u201d<\/p>\n

What’s been the most exciting thing about becoming a professional artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sheer joy of doing something that just makes me giggle with delight on a regular basis. Seeing people\u2019s delightful reaction to my work and what miracle happens next!<\/p>\n

What does your typical day in the studio look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I might research photos online for reference of animals such as horses, turtles, geese, cats, fish in different positions; underwater or mountain landscapes. \u00a0Go over orders to fill. \u00a0Do some printing to replenish my inventory. \u00a0Or, much more fun\u2026.go collect leaves in my yard or go for a walk with a backpack to fill up. \u00a0Or pull interesting leaves from my stash and play with arrangements on my illustration board and see what happens.<\/p>\n

Is there a trinket, talisman, or other inspirational object you keep near? If so, what is it and what does it mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have a puja<\/a> in my studio, a place for meditation. \u00a0The room vibrates with spiritual energy, the source of joy and creativity. \u00a0I am happy in this room!<\/p>\n

Imagine you just showed your work to a kindergartener for the first time. What do you think they would say?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Wow\u2026. Mom! \u00a0Look at this? \u00a0Can I take this home? \u00a0This is really cool\u2026 ”\u00a0(I actually had this happen with a 7 year old boy!)<\/p>\n
